Max and Liebchen HAVE a home!

These 2 shelties came from Camden County Animal Shelter a little while ago. They were with 2 cocker spaniels – and were found after the owner died. Thankfully, a Maryland rescue group came over to save the cockers (with 1 day to go!).

All 4 dogs are much overweight. They say that Max and Liebchen should go to a permanent home together, but that isn’t clear to me. Max (I call him Little Max because of Carol’s big Max), likes to be in a corner of the kitchen. Liebchen doesn’t hang around there. I’ve seen them play together in the morning, but otherwise, they seem to pretty much go their own ways.

Little Max frequently tags along with you wherever you are going. He is happy to get affection but doesn’t get in the way..

Liebchen is a “sleeper”. She seems to pay attention to what is going on. Hunter just left for his permanent home – Hunter would hunt flies. He would jump up and catch them in mid air then spit them out. The first evening Max and Liebchen where at Carol’s, Liebchen jumped at a couple of flies — not at the same time as Hunter but on her own. Interesting.

She seems to have picked up things from the other dogs, too. A scratch at the back of the leg for attention, etc. I think she is very bright. Carol pointed out that her face looks like a german shepherd. Well, it does. So, every time I look at here face, I think of a german shepherd now.

She is definitely a smart one. Neither dog is “flashy”. They blend into the surrounding and eventually you notice them being there. They love attention but just don’t stand out, for some reason. Very interesting.

Their owner passed away. We are not sure of ages [somewhere between 3 and 7]

They are about 16″ at the shoulder and a tad overweight at 35-40ish lbs.
They are both very, very friendly and bonded with each other. We will keep them together in foster care & look for an adoptinghome where they can be placed together.
